History of handbags

The handbag that combines beauty and utilitarianism is very popular now. Some people, when shopping or storing food in the pantry, will take it as an environmental awareness to resist plastic products. Others regard it as a fashion accessory, which meets and exceeds all expectations of comfort and aesthetics. Today, handbags have become a universal symbol of women’s functionality.

You can decorate your handbag or use its original shape and color. You can use everything in your mind to personalize it, or you can casually match your gorgeous clothes to make yourself look avant-garde. You can have one color, one size. The handbag is versatile, elegant, simple, useful, and fun.

However, how did they become so popular? When was the first handbag worn? Who invented them? Today, we will review the history of handbag and see its evolution from the beginning to the present.

At the beginning of the 17th century, it was just a word

The actual history of handbags does not begin in the 17th century. In fact, if you look at the historical archives, you will find that men and women in almost all cultures wear some early textile bags and satchels to carry their belongings. Leather, cloth and other plant fibers are materials that people have used since early times to make various useful bags.

However, when it comes to handbags, we can trace back to the word tote – actually tote, meaning “carry”. In those days, dressing means putting your things in your bag or pocket. Although these bags are unlikely to be similar to the handbags we know and like today, they seem to be the predecessor of our modern handbags.

Since the first iteration of the early handbag, the world has continued to move forward, and we have had to spend hundreds of years until what we know today becomes the first official handbag.

The 19th century, the age of utilitarianism

Slowly, the word “to” began to change from a verb to a noun. The 1940s was a landmark time stamp in the history of tote bags, along with Maine. Officially, this handbag is a symbol of the outdoor brand L L. Bean。

This famous brand came up with the idea of an ice bag in 1944. We still have recognizable, legendary, large, square canvas ice packs. At that time, L 50. Bean’s ice bag is like this: a large, strong, durable canvas bag used to transport ice from the car to the refrigerator.

It took people a long time to realize that they could use this bag for ice transportation. Bean’s bag is versatile and wear resistant. What else can it carry?

Along with the first person who successfully answered this question, ice packs became popular and began to be promoted as a major utility. In the 1950s, tote bags were the first choice for housewives, who used them to do groceries and housework.
