How to carry a messenger bag and how to choose it

1. One shoulder

The weight of the bag is pressed on one side, so that one side of the spine is compressed, and the other side is pulled, resulting in unequal muscle tension and imbalance, and the blood circulation of the shoulder on the compressed side is also affected to a certain extent. The effects, over time, can lead to abnormal high and low shoulders and curvature of the spine. Therefore, it is only suitable for bags that are not too heavy to carry for a short time.

2. Cross-body backpack

The shoulder straps are fixed, not easy to slip off, and the shoulder joints do not need to move forward, which can avoid hunchback. But it is still only one side of the shoulder, if only one shoulder is used for a long time, it may lead to deformation of the shoulder over time.

3. Hand carry

This is the easiest position to keep your wrists and arms in line. Using the upper arm and forearm muscles, the trapezius is less involved, and the chance of causing high and low shoulders is lower. However, the finger grip is limited, and the weight of the bag is concentrated on the finger joints. If the bag is too heavy, it will cause finger fatigue.

Messenger bag selection skills

1. Structural design

The structural design of the messenger bag is the most important, because it determines the performance of the bag in many aspects such as practicality, durability, comfort and so on. The function of the bag is not the more the better, the overall design should be simple and practical and avoid fancy. Whether a bag is comfortable is basically determined by the design and structure of the carrying system. The carrying system usually consists of a strap, a waist belt and a back pad. A comfortable bag should have wider, thicker and adjustable straps, waist belts and back pads. The back pad should preferably have perspiration ventilation slots.

2. Material

The selection of materials includes two aspects: fabric and components. The fabric should usually have the characteristics of wear resistance, tear resistance and waterproof. The more popular ones are Oxford nylon cloth, polyester staple fiber canvas, cowhide and genuine leather. Components include waist buckles, all zippers, shoulder and chest strap fasteners, cover and body fasteners, external strap fasteners, etc. These loops are usually made of metal and nylon and need to be carefully identified when purchasing.

3. Workmanship

It refers to the quality of the stitching process between the shoulder belt and the bag body, between the fabrics, the bag cover and the bag body, etc. To ensure the necessary stitching firmness, the stitches should not be too large or too loose.
